ADHD Evaluation and Treatment

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) ranks among the most prevalent [ST11] [EH12] neurodevelopmental disorders during childhood, typically diagnosed in early years and frequently persisting into adulthood. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that approximately 9.6% of children from the ages of 3 to17, are diagnosed with ADHD. Children with ADHD may struggle with attention issues, difficulties in controlling impulsive behaviors, or an excess of physical activity.

Mar y Sol Mental Health Experts uses QBtech testing, an FDA-cleared means of providing clear results so we know exactly how to treat your child’s ADHD.

Our Mar Y Sol Mental Health Experts team utilizes behavioral therapy that can be combined with medication to achieve the most successful results. We create individualized therapy for each patient, therapy that is designed to address their unique needs. We also involve the parents in the therapy, ensuring that they are empowered with the behavioral tools that will most help their child.

Effectively addressing ADHD symptoms in a child can contribute to academic success, enhance friendships and social interactions, and improve overall family dynamics. The possible advantages include fostering a healthy self-image, boosting confidence, and avoiding substance use and disruptive behaviors.

Behavioral Health

Behavioral health and behavioral health services are hugely important to children. Behavioral health is a vital component of their overall well-being. Encompassing mental, emotional, and behavioral aspects, it influences children's thoughts, emotions, and actions. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in how children manage stress, engage with others, and make health-conscious choices. In other words, it determines how children interpret and manage themselves in their world.

In our behavioral therapy treatment, we use therapeutic methods that eliminate nonproductive or self-defeating behaviors and replace them with healthy behaviors.

Treatment for Children’s Mental Health Conditions

We also treat anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, substance abuse or substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, other mood disorders, and mental health conditions. Although these conditions are found in adults, they are also common in pediatric and adolescent mental health.

Our Mar Y Sol Mental Health Experts team has the experience and knowledge to identify and treat these mental health problems in both children and adolescents. Our therapies can help young people create better lives for themselves and their families.

Evidence-based practices

We use evidence-based practices in our psychiatric treatments. Rather than solely relying on personal viewpoints, evidence-based [ST6] [EH7] [EH8] practice therapy offers mental health providers a care framework that’s rooted in research. Evidence-based therapies are treatments supported by scientific evidence and statistical data that prove the therapy works. This approach lessens the likelihood of bias or subjective experiences influencing the treatment process.

Why Choose Mar Y Sol

While she was pursuing her degree, Dr. Ardon studied adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry at Yale Child Study Center. She served patients and clients working with Family and Children’s Aid as a child psychiatrist. Dr. Ardon has years of experience in treating children and teens, and they are an important part of her practice today.

With Mar Y Sol Mental Health Experts, we ensure that all mental health options are available as soon as possible, including access to a psychiatrist and therapist in the same office. In many mental health clinics, patients are limited for weeks to seeing only a therapist before obtaining a referral to a psychiatrist. If your child needs medication as part of their treatment, the delay in seeing a psychiatrist can also delay their journey to wellness. Mar Y Sol Mental Health Experts solve this problem for your family by offering both therapy and mental health medication services.

FAQs

  • School stress can be a factor that increases the frequency and severity of your child’s mental health symptoms. Anxiety can become more noticeable, depression can be more obvious, and symptoms of ADHD can occur with more frequency. We offer our patients coping strategies for school stressors and well as suggestions for parents and educators. Proactive measures from all three can help alleviate and lessen the symptoms. If you think your child would benefit from an assessment from our clinicians, please reach out to us

  • The severity of your child’s problems is indicated by how severely the issues affect their lives. If your child spends a lot of time alone, has problems focusing, is aggressive towards others, if they are overly fearful or shows other behaviors that negatively impact their lives, its best to reach out for help from a professional. A professional can identify if the behavior is a real problem and the best treatment path to follow. If you would like us to assess your child, please contact us for an appointment.

  • It’s common for parents to feel hopeless or helpless about solving their child’s mental health issues. Yet your support and involvement are crucial in helping them overcome the challenges of their mental illness. Participating in collaborative care is one option for supporting them. Participating in parent or family support groups will help you as well as your child. Consulting with your mental health care provider is another way. At Mar Y Sol Mental Health Experts, we design individual plans for each of our young patients, involving their parents and family in helping the child manage their symptoms as well as giving coping strategies for the entire family.
