About Marivel Barnard, LMSW

Marivel Barnard, LMSW, is a dedicated clinician with a deep passion for helping others. Born in the U.S. to Puerto Rican parents, she was raised in a Spanish Christian Evangelical community in New York City, where she learned the importance of service from her parents. Her mother ran a “Love Kitchen” in Spanish Harlem, and her father was a strong pillar in the church, instilling in her a lifelong commitment to supporting those in need.

Initially pursuing a career in business, Marivel worked in Human Resources for over 14 years. However, after getting married and having a child with autism, she was inspired to transition into Clinical Social Work. A Fordham University graduate, she has since spent over 13 years working with individuals facing substance abuse, domestic violence, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and crisis situations. Fluent in Spanish and English, she bridges cultural gaps and provides vital mental health support to diverse communities.
